iPhone Xr

This iPhone is the cheapest one, at $699 base price, so it will probably appeal to the more budget-conscious among us.

The iPhone Xr has a 6.1″ notched display and the new 7nm processor from Apple, the A12. It still has a single camera, but takes advantage of the A12’s new capabilities to take great photos.

Storage options are 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The Xr comes in Blue, Yellow, Coral, Black, and Project Red color options. Price starts at $749 and will be available for pre-order of October 19 and shipping a week later.

The iPhone Xr drops the home button for a Touch ID system, just like all other 2018 iPhones and the iPhone X from last year.

iPhone Xs and Xs Max

The iPhone Xs and Xs Max are very similar, having the same processor, cameras, storage, and RAM. They do have different displays which is the main differentiating feature between them.

They both have 19.5:9 notched displays, with the Xs having a 5.8″ and the Xs Max having a 6.5″ screen. These displays both have higher pixel density (Pixels Per Inch) than previous models, and have new HDR capabilities and faster screen response rates.

The Xs and Xs Max have the new A12 Bionic chipset manufactured for Apple by TSMC. It has up to 15% better performance and 40% more power efficient than last year’s A11 processor.

The iPhone Xs and Xs Max come in Silver, Space Gray, or Gold color options. Prices for the Xs start at $999 and the Xs Max at $1,099. The storage options are 64GB(base), 256GB, and 512GB. They can be pre-ordered on September 14.

The new iPhones will come with iOS 12, which will be released on September 17. They will also now have limited dual-SIM capability. China will get a true dual-SIM, whereas the West will get an eSIM and a physical SIM.
