Mobile World Congress – New Phones
From February 26 to March 1, with some companies’ announcements outside that time-frame, Mobile World Congress was held in Barcelona, California.
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus
The day before Mobile Word Congress, Samsung announced their new Galaxy phones: the S9 and S9 Plus. These phones are much like the S8 in design, but have much-improved cameras over the previous generation. The S9 and S9 Plus come with 4GB and 6GB of memory (RAM), respectively, and 64GB of integrated storage, with expansion possible via micro-SD cards.
They will be available for pre-order on March 2 and in stores on March 16. The prices are $720 for the S9 and $840 for the S9 Plus.
Vivo Apex Concept
Vivo, a little-known brand based in China, showed off a concept phone: Vivo Apex.
This concept phone has an almost bezel-less design with the greatest screen-to-body ration to date.
Intel and AMD partnership
Intel, who makes computer processors found in many of today’s computers, and AMD, which manufactures CPUs and dedicated graphics cards, have teamed up to create an Intel processor that has improved graphics performance. This CPU, a laptop processor in the Intel Kaby Lake-Refresh architecture (8th generation), will give thinner laptops greater graphics performance.
